Approach
How I approach therapy
I take an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from a range of evidence-based methods to meet your unique needs. Some of these include:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): This approach helps you stop avoiding or battling your emotions and instead, learn to accept them as natural responses to certain situations and past experiences. By embracing these feelings, you can focus on taking value-aligned action and changing your behaviour, in order to create a rich and meaningful life.
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT): Emotions are central to our identity and decision-making. EFT helps you connect with and understand your emotions, offering valuable insights that can guide your actions and improve your well-being.
Attachment-Based Therapy: Our early relationships shape our sense of security, core beliefs, and our patterns in relationships. This approach explores those early bonds so you can learn how they influence your current emotional responses and relationships. This can help you build healthier, more secure relationships and emotional patterns.
Trauma-Informed Therapy: Safety and trust are key when dealing with trauma. I create a supportive environment where you feel empowered to heal. We focus on understanding how trauma has affected your nervous system, provide you with tools for healing, and work together to avoid re-traumatization while promoting recovery.
The change journey
1
Goal-setting
First, we’ll have an assessment session, where I’ll learn about you, what brings you to therapy, and the context of your life. Together, we’ll set goals for your time in therapy.
2
Exploration
Then, we’ll work together to understand the root causes, beliefs, and habits that underlie your struggles. You’ll delve into connecting the dots of your story: examining patterns, addressing negative thoughts, and processing your emotions.
3
Implementing change
Finally, we’ll work to turn those learnings into real, actionable change in your life. It’s scary — but this is where the magic happens!
